I only have limited four wheel drive experience. Will I be able to do the tour?

If you only have limited experience, we will help you out along the way. We have been driving offroad for many years and are here to help.

Can I bring a trailer?

Much of the terrain that we travel through is rough and rugged. Much of the terrain will destroy a trailer, so it is not possible to bring a trailer for the harsh desert sections.

Do I need to bring my own water?

You will be required to carry your own water. Each vehicle is self sufficient. We will let you know the recommended amount of water you need to carry and the various water points along the way, so you can fill up.

I’ve heard that there is only opal fuel in some of the remote areas. Will my vehicle run on this?

Yes. This is true and your vehicle will run on opal fine.

What food do I bring?

It’s up to you what food you bring with you but we will provide you with some ideas and recommendations of what works well in the bush and kinds of foods that store and travel well too.

What if I break down?

We strongly recommend that you get your car checked over by a qualified mechanic before you leave to ensure that everything is as it should be. The terrain on which we travel is very tough on vehicles, so it is important to make sure that your vehicle is ready for the trip. We recommend that you take out roadside assistance cover too.

Will I sleep under a dark sky full of stars?

Yes. We can pretty much guarantee that you will see a night sky full of stars. We travel to very remote areas where there is no polution and no lights for 100s of miles. The night skies are unbelievable.

What kind of camping equipment should I bring?

When you book an Outback Adventure Treks four wheel drive tour you will be given a full Tour Information Kit which will provide you with all the useful information that you need for the trip. We will give you suggestions as to which gear you can bring.

Is there a support vehicle?

The tour is led by a 4WD vehicle which will support you where necessary and help you get out of sticky situations.

What will the weather be like?

We plan our tours at the best times of year for the various locations. But, as weather can be unpredictable, please be prepared for various weather conditions.
